Le Sully
Le Sully. Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis. What a pub. What a street. And pints are only 3.50 in here. In this day and age. 3.50!
On the terrace, old boys are having a catch up, hipsters are mingling, a little sausage dog is eyeing up a sick pigeon hiding in the corner. Your pint is going down a little too easily but another one would only be 3.50. Amazing.
A couple of girls have bought cups of soup from the Kurdish place across the road. One of them drops hers all over the pavement. She tries to chuck the cup in an open bin and misses that too. Utterly fucked it. They both laugh as they walk away. You wonder how much that soup cost. Less than a pint in here no doubt.
A group of young lads come over and ask if you have a light. They are utterly battered and have clearly been out since last night and not gone to bed yet. One of them is wearing a sequin onesie. You ask him if he is a little bourré but you pronounce it beurré. He thinks about it for a second.
“Yes,” he says innocently, “I do love butter.”
A flight of about 100 pigeons screams down the street in formation like they are looking for compliments and everyone on the terrace goes ‘wah’. What a show. What a street. What a pub.. And did I mention it’s only 3.50 for a pint?

Love this. That soup is unreal. The Sully was the location for a film that my friend made many years ago! Ended up there myself, 6 months pregnant last Christmas Day drinking Perrier which is more expensive than the pint!
